Following the closure of a bespoke kitchen makers’ workshop in Hayling Island, BPI was appointed to oversee the sale of its contents via auction. The business, known for its quality craftsmanship and investment in high-specification equipment, made the difficult decision to cease trading earlier this year.
The vendor was introduced to BPI through a recommendation from their representative at Felder.
“Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work out for me, so I decided to sell my machines – an auction felt like the right approach,” explained Nathan, the former owner. “When it was time to sell, I spoke to my Felder representative, and they recommended BPI.
“After detailed conversations and guidance from BPI, I decided to go ahead. I was given guide prices for the machines and the likely outcome of the auction – and initial figures were accurate. I’m really happy with the result.”
The auction featured a selection of late-model woodworking machinery and workshop equipment, including a suite of 2022 Felder machines such as the Format 4 Kappa 400 Panel Saw, AD 941 Planer Thicknesser, F700Z Spindle Moulder, FB510 Vertical Bandsaw and FW950 Wide Belt Through Feed Sander. Other highlights included a 2022 ABAC compressor, a range of power tools, and precision machine tooling.
“I initially thought BPI would sell the big machines, but the team suggested I auction the entire contents of the workshop,” the vendor added. “Pretty much everything sold. They sent a team down to lot and detail all the machines and made the whole process was very easy, clean, and slick.”
BPI’s end-to-end support covered everything from cataloguing and marketing to managing enquiries, viewings, collections, and sale logistics. The full workshop contents were listed and launched within weeks, with the auction attracting over 150 registered bidders and achieving total sales in excess of £43,000.
“Everyone at BPI were great, really helpful and reassuring,” the vendor concluded. “If I find myself in this position again in future, I’d have no hesitation in using BPI.”
David Ward, Woodworking Manager at BPI, commented: “This sale brought a strong level of interest thanks to the quality and condition of the assets involved. It was important to the client that the process was handled professionally and with minimal hassle, and we were pleased to deliver just that, ensuring everything was marketed to the right buyers and sold efficiently.”
The site has since been fully cleared, with the client supported throughout, ensuring a smooth and confident exit from the business.
