Construction, plant and machinery auctions

FAQ’s

What are the benefits of buying plant machinery at auction?

Construction and plant machinery is often high value and can be difficult to source new, with long lead times on many models. Buying at auction gives you access to a wide choice of used equipment, often at a significantly lower price than buying new. Auctions have become one of the most popular ways to buy plant machinery, giving you the chance to find the right kit quickly and at a competitive price.

What construction and plant machinery can I buy at auction?

Our auctions regularly include excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, dozers, cranes, loaders, crushers, material handlers, drilling rigs, screeners, forestry equipment and demolition equipment. You’ll also find attachments, tools and support equipment. Individual lots and complete fleets from leading brands are listed throughout the year.

How do I bid on plant machinery?

Start by creating a BPI account. Once registered, you can browse our live auctions, view lot details and photographs, and place bids online. You can bid on as many lots as you like, and we’ll let you know if you’ve won.

Can I view the machinery before bidding?

Yes. Machinery usually remains at the seller’s premises, so viewings are arranged by appointment. Details are provided in each auction listing, and our team is happy to help organise a viewing on your behalf.

What fees apply when buying plant machinery?

A buyer’s premium is added to the winning bid, typically ranging from 5% to 25% plus VAT. Full fee details are shown on each auction before you bid. You can also use our Fee Calculator to work out the total cost of a lot before you bid.

Is the machinery checked before the sale?

Each lot is catalogued with photographs and a description, including details such as age, hours and service history where available. Machinery is sold as seen, so we strongly recommend viewing before you bid or arranging for someone to inspect it on your behalf.

What happens if I win a lot?

You’ll receive an email confirming your purchase along with an invoice. Once payment has been received, you can confirm your collection arrangements.

How do I collect or transport my machinery?

Collection details are included in each auction listing. For larger machinery, we can refer you to trusted haulage partners for a quote, or the seller may be able to arrange transport after the sale.

Can I buy an entire plant fleet?

Yes. Some of our auctions include complete fleets or site clearances, giving you the opportunity to purchase multiple machines in one sale. Our team can talk you through upcoming auctions and what’s available.

Can I bid from outside the UK?

Yes, we welcome bidders from overseas. Buyers are responsible for arranging export, transport and any import duties. Visit our Global shipping for international buyers page for more information.
