BPI was appointed to manage the sale of a state-of-the-art modular building manufacturing facility, following a business restructure. Purpose-built to produce up to 1,000 homes per year, the facility housed cutting-edge volumetric modular construction equipment, with an estimated asset value of approximately £30,000,000.

With a highly specialised asset portfolio and strict deadlines in place, the sale required a strategic, expert-led approach to ensure maximum return and minimum, disruption.

Navigating the challenges of a complex sale

Disposing of an entire modular manufacturing facility posed several challenges. The high-value nature of the equipment meant finding the right buyers was essential. Many of the machines were highly specialised and rarely available on the secondary market, making global reach and precision marketing critical. In addition, the timeline was tight. The disposal process needed to be fast, efficient, and executed in full alignment with restructuring requirements.

Targeted strategy, global reach

BPI’s specialist team developed a bespoke campaign, leveraging both its in-house marketing expertise and the BPI Auctions platform to target relevant buyers in the UK and overseas.

Over 500 lots were catalogued and listed, offering detailed descriptions, imagery, and technical information to build buyer confidence and interest. Standout assets included a 2021 Stour Twin Column Welding Cell, 2020 ABB8700 Foundry Plus Robotic Handling Arm, 2021 Street 25t Twin Crab Steel Gantry Crane, and a 2019 Weinmann/Homag Wallteq CNC Machine.

By combining expert cataloguing with strategic promotion, BPI generated strong competition and buyer engagement throughout the sale.

Auction outcome and market response

The auction attracted significant buyer interest, with highly competitive bidding driving a final hammer price of over £900,000. The result reflected both the quality of the assets and the effectiveness of BPI’s disposal strategy, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner for high-value asset sales.

“This was a landmark sale for us – not only in terms of the asset value, but in the complexity and speed required. Our team delivered a fully coordinated campaign that reached the right audience and delivered an excellent result for all parties involved.” Robin Latham, Business Development Manager at BPI
