Following the retirement of a long-established fabricator and contractor, BPI was appointed to manage the sale of remaining assets from the company’s workshop and yard. The vendor was seeking a complete, hassle-free disposal solution following retirement. With no VAT on the hammer price and all lots offered without reserve, the auction was structured to attract broad interest and maximise returns.

The sale ran through to the end of June and featured 140 lots, ranging from plant machinery and fabrication tools to larger site infrastructure. Standout assets included two high-spec gantry cranes from 2016 and 2017, a Street gantry structure, sheet metal rollers, an Archdale 32″ radial arm drill, welders, a fume extractor, and an Ingersoll Rand Nirvana OF N37 industrial screw compressor. The site also included steel-framed buildings, racking, galvanised gates, and general workshop equipment.

The auction attracted strong interest, with over 200 registered bidders competing on lots from across the UK. The final result exceeded expectations, generating over £50,000 and delivering an outstanding outcome for the vendor.

BPI’s industrial team oversaw every stage of the process, from on-site inspection and strategic lotting through to marketing, bidder support, and final collections. With clear communication and a tailored approach throughout, the sale was delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption – allowing the vendor to close this chapter with confidence and ease.

Richard Travis, Industrial Specialist at BPI said: “This was a great example of how the right strategy can unlock real value. With quality assets and a motivated market, we were able to deliver a result that far exceeded expectations.”
