When a long-standing woodworking machinery supplier based in Little Bentley decided to retire, BPI was appointed to manage the sale of the company’s assets. Across two online auctions, BPI helped the business owner close this chapter smoothly, realising over £40,000 from a combined total of more than 100 lots.
The first auction featured high-quality workshop machinery including a Wadkin PBR-HD Resaw, Wadkin MF Chain/Chisel Morticer, WadkinDM Morticer, Wadkin BGY3 Disc & Belt Sander, Wadkin C5 Vertical Bandsaw, and Wadkin BAOS Planer Thicknesser. The event saw strong bidding activity and generated more than £25,000 in sales.
Following this success, BPI was reappointed to manage a second sale comprising the remainder of the workshop’s contents. This auction included a Wadkin MF Morticer, Wadkin BZB Bandsaw, Startrite T1250 Sliding Table Panel Saw, Wadkin BEM Spindle Moulder, Union Graduate Wood Lathe, and multiple Sedgwick machines. With shipping and loading support available, it attracted attention from woodworking businesses both locally and nationwide, achieving a further £15,000 in sales.
The client, Howard Jones from Machines 4 You, had been a loyal BPI buyer for many years and reached out directly after making the difficult decision to retire due to health reasons. Familiar with BPI’s reputation and longstanding service, he was confident the team would handle the process professionally.
With minimal hassle and a smooth turnaround, both auctions were completed efficiently and with strong results. “We were very pleased prior to my semi-retirement with the positive results achieved, which caused little hassle to ourselves,” Howard added. “The auctions themselves produced a very reasonable price response considering the present uncertain volatility in the current marketplace.”
The team supported Howard throughout the process, offering guidance on photography and buyer collections to help ensure he was ready for his next chapter. “This was a brilliant example of how we support business owners as they prepare to step away from the trade,” said Russell Dutton, Auction Manager at BPI. “From initial enquiry through to completion, our team is equipped to manage sales end-to-end, ensuring strong returns for the client and a smooth process throughout.”
Reflecting on the overall experience, Howard added: “We would be glad to recommend your services to anyone seeking to sell their equipment, finding your system effective, with accurate payment—prompt and fair. I take this opportunity to thank you personally and your staff for all you have done for me.”
Whether you’re retiring, restructuring or simply looking to downsize your operations, BPI’s team of specialists is here to support you with a transparent, effective disposal strategy. You built your business—let us close it the right way.
