BPI has delivered a strong result for Riggs Plant Ltd., achieving a hammer total of £104,952 through the disposal of vehicles, hoists, lifting equipment, generators and tools following the closure of the business.
Operating across East and West Sussex and London, Riggs Plant Ltd. was a well-regarded specialist in hoisting solutions with a broad fleet ranging from goods and passenger hoists to ladder lifts and scaffold hoists. BPI was appointed to manage the full disposal programme, providing a structured and carefully coordinated process from preparation through to final sale.
The project began with detailed on-site cataloguing in Hellingly, where BPI Project Managers Carl and Mike ensured every vehicle, hoist, generator and item of lifting equipment was accurately prepared and professionally presented to maximise buyer confidence and value. Their efficiency and approach were noted by the client, who valued the clarity, support and reassurance provided throughout what was a particularly challenging time.
BPI’s Marketing team delivered a comprehensive campaign spanning social media, industry media and targeted research to identify relevant businesses in the construction and hoist hire sectors. This activity drove strong engagement, resulting in more than 120 registered bidders and notable interest across specialist lifting equipment and vehicles.
Assets attracting competitive bidding included a Volkswagen Crafter CR50 Flatbed Van, a DAF LF 150 7.5T Flatbed Lorry, a Renault Kangoo Panel Van, multiple Maber construction hoists, De Jong and IMER lifting equipment, generators, ladder lifts, scaffold hoists and additional site tools.
The auction was managed proactively throughout, with close coordination between the Auction Manager and the client. Clear communication ensured a smooth process from initial instruction through to completion, delivering a strong result within a niche and highly specialised sector.
Kerry Riggs, the vendor, shared her experience: “I first found BPI through a Google search, having no previous experience of auctions. From my first contact with Robin, the Business Development Manager at BPI, I felt we could work together to close my family business.
“It was a very difficult time for me, having lost my dad the year before and being left to run the business alone, but Robin was helpful and understanding throughout and organised the auction extremely well. Carl and Mike were very helpful and efficient in their roles, going above and beyond to assist with clearing the remaining items so I had very little to manage afterwards. Whenever I had concerns, either myself or my colleague could contact Robin and have them resolved. All in all, BPI helped make a difficult process much easier.”
Robin Latham, Business Development at BPI, commented: “This project demonstrated the strength of a truly collaborative approach. Every stage, from the cataloguing to the marketing to the auction management, was handled with care and attention to detail, and the outcome reflects that.
Most importantly, the client felt fully supported throughout, and seeing their relief and satisfaction at the final result made the hard work worthwhile. I am extremely proud of how the team came together on this one.”
